The data file may get corrupted over the time or it may get corrupted due to Quicken getting crashed more often than not. Hence, in order to debug the error, you should validate the data file and check if it is corrupted.

Ensure that before going any further of validation, you make a backup of the original file as it may come handy later on.

  • First, you will need to make a copy of the data file. Go to File and then select File Operations.
  • Select Copy from the menu and save the file under a new name.
  • Now, you should open that copied file in Quicken.
  • Go to File and then select File Operations.
  • There you will have Validate and Repair.
  • Click Validate and then start the validation process by clicking OK
  • Notice any errors that are in the log which aren’t repaired by Quicken.
  • Try to validate the file again and check if previous errors are getting resolved.

If the errors go away, then you can use the new data file and work on the new one while abandoning the old one.
