There are many instances when even after successfully reinstalling Quicken, it may fail to start or may not launch at all. There are various reasons due to which it can happen and all of the factors have different point of origination regarding it. Hence, the steps that need to take care of also vary depending upon why the application is not starting or not launching after successfully install.
Sometimes it may happen that, if you are using a laptop and external monitors are used, Quicken may be unable to launch after disconnecting the external monitors. This mainly happens because Quicken is still using the secondary monitor as the display but there is no second monitor to start with.
There are other ways in order to open Quicken when it does fail to open. One such method is, holding down the Ctrl key while opening the Quicken. There are two outcomes of this. If Quicken does open but fails to initialize, then you should check the data file for corruption. There may be some corruption going on in the data file due to which, it is corrupted and hence, Quicken fails to initialize even after successful launch. On other hand, if Quicken fails to start even, then you should check the antivirus or firewall to see if it is blocked by any such program. If firewall is indeed blocking, then you should put it whitelist mode so that the computer allows running the program without any difficulties.
There could be also errors related to the shortcuts while opening Quicken. In order to remedy this, you will need to open up the application from the actual itself rather than the shortcut which is pointing to the actual. You should go to the location where the program is located and search for a file named Qw.exe after double clicking this file; it should open if the problem was in the shortcut and not in the actual file itself.
In case of windows machines, Quicken may not run after windows update. If the issue appears only after windows update, then you should try reinstalling the windows update again and it should resolve it. Even if after reinstalling the update patch, the issue persists, there may be firewalls which are blocking the application to launch. You should check the firewalls and if it is indeed blocking then you have to unblock it from the list and let it launch normally.
